Passed away peacefully at AR Goudie on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at the age of 95. Beloved husband of Margaret (nee Hachborn) for over 65 years. Loving father of Marlene (Paul), Stephen (Sonia), Karen (Glen), Ted (Carol), Mark (Kim) and Greg (Elizabeth). Proud Grandpa of Joel, Micah, Luke, Kristy (Thomas), Sarah (Chris), Eric, Rachel (Tyler), Lilly, Grace, Hope and Rose. Survived by his sister-in-law Joyce and brother-in-law Silvin. Dear brother of the late Margaret (Laverne), Mary (John), Ruby, Ward (Beatrice), Clarke (Katherine, Ruth), Norma and Glen. Fondly remembered by the Hachborn family. Harold was the founder of Dettweiler's Sausage (formerly Midway Meat Market). He was a longtime member of Breslau Evangelical Missionary Church and served with the Gideons for many years.
Harold's family will receive relatives and friends from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday January 9, 2018 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467, and from 10-10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Breslau Evangelical Missionary Church, 102 Woolwich St. South, Breslau. Funeral Service at the church on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the church hall. Spring interment - Breslau Mennonite Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Breslau Evangelical Missionary Church or Gideons International - Canada would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
